About Me

As a psychodynamic counsellor and hypnotherapist, my approach to working with clients is rooted in psychodynamic theory, which emphasises the exploration of unconscious processes and the influence of past experiences on a person's current thoughts, feelings, and actions. Here's a general outline of how I work with my clients:

  • I shall meet with you, listen to you and together with you establish our therapeutic relationship.A safe and trusting working relationship. Once we have this we shall be ready to start exploring deep and often sensitive issues.

  • I shall help you explore your unconscious thoughts, feelings, and conflicts. I shall encourage you to remember and discuss your dreams, fantasies, conflicts and any recurring patterns or themes in your life.
  • Together we will explore your early life experiences, particularly those involving parents, significant others and attachment figures. These experiences often provide insights into present-day issues.

  • I will offer sensitive interpretations to help you gain insight into your unconscious processes and patterns of feeling, thinking and acting.

  • I shall encourage you to explore and process your emotions, conflicts, and defensive strategies. This process can involve safe and sensitive revisiting of difficult memories and unresolved issues from the past.

  • I will provide you with emotional support and containment to help you manage any emotions that may arise during therapy.

  • I shall ensure that the therapeutic space is a safe and nonjudgmental environment at all times.

  • I will help you face your challenges as well as gain insight into your inner world, including your motivations, fears, and desires. This insight is required for personal growth and positive change.

  • When you are ready I shall plan for a gradual termination process when we have achieved your therapy goals. We’ll review your progress and the skills you have acquired to cope with future challenges.
